I graduate in 2 weeks and I just want to share my experiences here on DA. For the past 5 years on DA(3 of this account), I been growing as an artist from top to bottom, trying to improve my techniques and overall skills in the world of art. I have meet some great people on here, who were mentors and friends to chat with. They have inspired me to work on my art more and more, even if I tend to be on the low side at times.
I been knowing most of you guys for a while now(about 4-5 years) and I have to say your guys have improved drastically in your art skills. I remember some of you guy drew just doodles on paper and now, perfecting your skills bu using the tablet and making complex pieces, I'm impressed indeed. I remember when I started my art career in 2009, I started with doodles on paper myself without any construction, but now, I'm using Paint Tool Sai and my art has skills greatly improved. There are better artist then me and I know that, but I will improve my skills as an artist because that's what we do(well most).
Some of you guys are going to hate me for saying this(this doesn't apply to most of you), but the 5 years I been here, there have been some artists who haven't improved there skills at all....NONE WHATS SO EVER. I'm saying this because with at least 3 or more years, there should be some improvement or skill changes right, but no. If I see a gallery with a ton of mediocre drawings and same they are all the same, It tells me that your not really trying to be an artist, but that's the case with most people. I understand if your doing it for fun(of course art is fun) and its a hobby, but if you want to make a career out of it, then I have to say no. It's how I feel on this subject.
It's been a pretty good 5 years on DA and I plan on moving forward, I've never expected to get this far and I never expected to have professional cartoonist watching my work. It really means a lot and I will keep on drawing for myself and for the people who enjoy my work.
I did make some changes to my comic concept and its going to take me a while to grasp it together, but I should have something by next month
